I had been working with the spike motif for a few months and wanted to make something large for my course final project. Originally planning to make a different piece, I sat in bed one night and saw a vision, clear as day, of a tower of spikes, looming over anyone brave enough to approach. With this, spike tree was born.
This work is near and dear to my heart, as it served as a sort of community project within the studio. Many different people took the time to help me load, lift, stack, move these pieces. I am indebted to these classmates and (not so) secretly enjoy the stark contrast in concept and conception.
