I had the incredible opportunity to take a workshop this summer at the lovely Anderson Ranch Art Center! I'm so honored to have attended via scholarship, studied under Yana Payusova, and worked in the totemic. I am super excited with how this piece is turning out and very ready to get back into the studio and finish it up this fall.
This piece has truly tested my patience... broke on me three times before I caught on that the clay might be trying to tell me something. Originally imagined to be a möbius strip in full, destined to become triadic, twisted, gashed forms. This wip turned from incredibly frustrating to beyond cathartic as soon as I let the clay take the lead. Clay has a beautiful way of always reminding me to let go of control.
